March's Up Coming Events and News

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Dear Parents (and Grandparents),

The PTO is looking for volunteers to help with the upcoming Book Fair.

We are seeking volunteers to help students browse and purchase books on March 21st, 22nd, 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th from 11:30am-3:00pm. The Book Fair will be set-up in the Library and students will come down with their entire class - - so the more volunteers we have to help, the smoother it will go. If you’d be willing to help out for an afternoon (or partial afternoon) please let us know.

We are also extending our hours on Thursday March 21st & Thursday March 28th from 3:00-6:00so that families & community members can browse and shop. We are looking for volunteers to run the fair during these extended hours as well.

If you would be willing to help out with the Book Fair, please contact Sherry Brinks at sherrybrinks@gmail.com (825-2021/884-9566) or LeighAnn Sikkema at lasikkema@mcbain.org(825-8041).

Our first grade class will be going on March 21 to browse for books and make a wish list and then on March 26 the children will have the opportunity to purchase books from their lists.

Dress Up days for reading month:
March 15 - animal print day (wear spots, stripes, leopard or zebra print, etc.)
March 22 - dress as a favorite storybook character
March 28 (Thursday)  - jammies in the jungle day
March 29 - Good Friday and the beginning of Spring break!

March 15 and March 22 will also be "popcorn" Fridays.  Your child may purchase a bag of popcorn for 25 cents.  Any monies left after covering the cost of making the popcorn will be donated to a "Save the Rainforest" cause.

Reading in the Rainforest:
Every Wednesday after lunch our class walks down to the "rain forest" hallway to read in the rain forest. We spend 15-20 minutes quietly reading and enjoying the rain forest atmosphere.

Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo:
The children absolutely loved the animals that we saw when the mobile zoo came!  Look for pictures on the next blog!
